Celebrating Community Land Week -Open Day in Gallan Beag 2024
As part of Community Land Scotland Community Land week on Friday 25th October we held an open day to mark 10 years since the Gallan Head Community Trust became a legal entity. This was also part of the CLS 100 years of community ownership project called Linn an Fhearrain
The ambition of the Linn an Fhearrain project is to create a living archive of community ownership, one of the most important political economic and social movements in Scotland in the last 100+ years.
The project involves an Oral history and Archive training program which will provide the skills for all participants to contribute to a new archive website that shares individual communities stories and builds a collective legacy of all Scotland’s community owners.
A meeting was held with Ryan Dziadowiec Archive assistant & Iain Craig Curator of Community Land Scotland 100 years of Community Ownership Project. They are collating verbal and audio input from each Trust and recording short videos to record the Trusts journey in the community buyout process which will be stored in a public archive.
