Whale & Dolphin Trust 2022

Siobhan Moran has been contacted by Emily Hague, a PhD student, who is investigating the impact of vessel movement on whales & dolphins. The project involves monitoring the vessels which will be done by using the AIS ( Automatic Identification System)  transmitter equipment already fitted to all vessels to identify their position at sea. Emily is requesting placing AIS receiver equipment at various locations on the Hebridean Whale Trail which includes Gallan Head to receive the AIS vessel information and thereby record the position of all vessels passing Gallan Head.  We hope to go ahead with this interesting project in 2023.
